From 8th April 2014 Microsoft no longer officially supports Windows XP and Office 2003
Below is a summary of the official statement from Microsoft.
"As a result, after April 8, 2014, technical assistance for Windows XP will no longer be available, including automatic updates that help protect your PC. Microsoft will also stop providing Microsoft Security Essentials for download on Windows XP on this date. (If you already have Microsoft Security Essentials installed, you will continue to receive antimalware signature updates for a limited time, but this does not mean that your PC will be secure because Microsoft will no longer be providing security updates to help protect your PC.)
If you continue to use Windows XP after support ends, your computer will still work but it might become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Also, as more software and hardware manufacturers continue to optimize for more recent versions of Windows, you can expect to encounter greater numbers of apps and devices that do not work with Windows XP."
What does this mean for you if your PC or laptop still runs Windows XP?
You now need to start thinking about upgrading your PC or laptop to a supported version of Windows. Although Microsoft recommends Windows 8.1 (their latest version of Windows) they are still supporting previous versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7 for many years.
Windows Vista will be support until 11/04/2017
Windows 7 will be supported until 14/01/2020
If your PC runs Windows XP it's likely to be an older PC and therefore possibly not suitable for an effective upgrade to Windows 8.1. Windows 8.1 demands a faster, better specification PC than Windows XP so you would more than likely have to upgrade your hardware too. This would probably not be cost effective. If you want to upgrade to Windows 8.1 it would be more cost effective to speak to us about a brand new custom build PC or laptop.
